- Context: This is a small village school.
- Background/starting point: Ongoing work initiated by the School’s Healthy Eating team
- Goals and objectives: To encourage pupils to try and enjoy new fruit!
- What did you do? The Healthy Schools Team wrote a successful letter to Sainsbury’s to ask for a donation of fruit for the whole school to try. They then prepared the fruit for the whole schopeol to sample, with help from parent and governor volunteers.
- Curriculum areas: K and U ( Early Years) PSHCE and Science.
- Outcomes / benefits / achievements: Pupils discovered that they liked different types of fruit. Healthy Eating by whole school. Great teamwork. Involvement of Governors and Parents.
- Challenges faced or lessons learnt: Well worth time spent writing to Sainsbury’s. Try other Supermarkets
- Resources used: Half day for two volunteers and two staff members to support setting up and clearing up.
- What's next? Thirsty Thursday! The pupils will enjoy making and tasting different healthy cocktails. Whole school picnic in the Summer Term.
