About this petal

Developing a Sustainable School requires you to consider the whole fabric of your school campus. Many aspects of sustainability are relevant to school buildings and grounds.

Choice of building technologies, construction materials, interior furnishings and equipment, ventilation, natural lighting, green spaces, estate resourcing etc.

Grounds are important for providing wildlife habitats, open air recreation for sport and relaxation as well as the production of fresh food.

Fundamentally developing the site in ways that help pupils learn about the natural world and sustainable living, however many schools have yet to realise the full educational and community potential of their buildings and grounds.
